Hi Soccer Families
As you know, our AGM was held in October and we are very pleased by the increased turnout. This brought about some changes to the people that make up the board of directors. Some left, some stayed and took on new roles, and some stayed in the roles they do so very well.
Leaving the board is Darren Snider, Andreas Korfmann, and Dave Stewart. We are thankful for their time and dedication to the success of our club.
We would like the thank Dan Turner, Jon Palfy, Cole Maddigan, Brenda Grindley, Meghan VanderMeulen, Juli Rempel, Radley Brown, Adam Currie, and Andy Amboe for accepting another nomination and remaining to guide us to another successful year.
We welcome to the board Amanda Rollins, Stephen Hunter, Ryan Bowie, and Tyler Tremblay. I can't wait to see the new ideas and perspectives they bring.
Today, we say goodbye to Laura Norrish, who has been the Managing Director for the past year. Friday was Laura's last day with the Fort St. John soccer Club as she has accepted a new job. Please join us as we wish her all the best as she embarks on her new career. Our contact info remains the same, but our physical office location is changing. Both contact methods will be monitored and responded to in a timely manner by one of our board members who will administrate until such time that we find a replacement.
As many of you are aware, the city is doing construction on the Kids Arena Field House and our soccer office has been displaced. What was inteded to be a short project, has taken much longer and we have found a temporary home at 103-10704 97th Ave. For the near future, members can make an appointment if they need to meet in person with someone for administration purposes, and once we hire someone we will post the hours that the office will be open and available to our members who wish to drop in and conduct business in person.
NOW for the best part...
The "Frosty Cup", first played in December 2018, is making a comeback with a small change in gameplay. We are excited to be running a 3v3 tournament over the Christmas break. This style of play does not have a goalie, the games will be no more than 20 minutes long, and will be so much fun to play and watch. We will play at the Kids Arena Field House, and the field of play for U11-14/15 will be cross field with the potential for 3 games to run at a time. Our U15-19 will play lengthwise with the potential of 2 games running at the same time. Players will register individually and will be placed on teams of 4-5 by a committee prior to the tournament. Registration is open and will remain open until December 14th, so please register now.
